Father Of Beaten Girl Faces Charges

FRANKLIN, N.H. — The father of an 8-year-old girl who, police said, was severely beaten by her stepmother has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
Dan LeBlanc was arraigned Wednesday morning on the misdemeanor charge. Investigators said LeBlanc withheld necessary medical treatment for the girl.
Cara LeBlanc, 29, was charged with assaulting the girl for nine hours on July 10, repeatedly throwing her down a flight of stairs and tying her up. She was arrested in Florida and is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday on charges of first-degree assault and criminal restraint.
Police said Dan LeBlanc took the girl to a hospital two days after she was assaulted.
Bail for Dan LeBlanc was set at $10,000 cash or surety, and he was ordered to have no contact with Cara LeBlanc.
The girl was taken to a Boston hospital, where she has been recovering.
