Police: Webster Woman Beat 8-Year-Old For Hours

THIS WOMAN NEEDS A GOOD BEATING!!

WEBSTER, N.H. — A woman beat her 8-year-old stepchild with a belt for nine consecutive hours and left their Webster home for Florida, police said.

Investigators said Kara LeBlanc pushed the child down a set of stairs seven times, dragging the child to the top of the stairs by her hair every time before pushing her. She faces assault and criminal restraint charges.

Police said LeBlanc bought a plane ticket on Monday from New Hampshire to Florida, where she has a friend she’s likely to be with.

LeBlanc is also accused of beating the child with a belt until the belt broke over a nine-hour period of time last Thursday. Police said she also tied the girl’s hands and feet and force-fed her cereal.

“She force-fed some food, tied (the child) up — hands and feet tied — up to a door at one point,” Webster police Lt. Phil Mitchell said.

On Saturday, the little girl was taken to Concord Hospital, where medical professionals called police to report the abuse. Authorities transported the 8-year-old to a Boston-area hospital, where she remained in critical condition with liver and kidney problems.

Police said LeBlanc left town while the child was transferred to Boston.

“We have information that she’s fled to Florida,” Mitchell said. “We have warrants for her arrest for first-degree assault, criminal restraint, and we have authorization from the county attorney to extradite anywhere in the U.S. So, Florida police are looking for her now.”

WMUR News 9’s Kimberly Bookman reported that neighbors didn’t ask questions about what went on inside the home, but they said they sensed the LeBlanc family was troubled.

“They did break up for a while and he said it was because she was mean to the children,” said Stacy Boisvert, a neighbor. “I didn’t realize it was that, she was really that abusive.”

Investigators said officers suspected abuse in the past, but the state checked and determined the concerns were unfounded.

Two other children in the house during the alleged assault were not hurt. One of the children is LeBlanc’s biological son.

Mitchell said the state Division for Children, Youth and Families received a court order on Monday to take custody of the children.
