Portsmouth Police Arrest Gary Dodds
PORTSMOUTH, N.H. — Gary Dodds is being held at the Rockingham County Jail after being arrested by police in Portsmouth. Dodds was taken into custody around 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
Police arrested Dodds at his Cutts Mansion property on Maplewood Avenue in Portsmouth. He was charged with simple assault, false imprisonment and breach of bail. Police have not released any details about the victim.
In February, Dodds was convicted of making up a disappearance during his congressional campaign. He was sentenced to 20-days and to pay restituion. Dodds remained free while he was appealing.
Dodds was ordered to wear an electronic bracelet, but he had that removed one week ago.
Dodds will spend his entire holiday behind bars. He is being held without bail until his arraignment on Monday.
Dodds was also arrested back in May. According to police in Rye, Dodds’ wife Cindy reported that he had thrown her to the ground while they were vacationing in Florida.
