South Carolina Teen, 14, Faces Murder, Sex Charges in 8-Year-Old Girl’s Death
GREENVILLE, S.C. — Authorities say a 14-year-old boy has been charged in the death and sexual assault of an 8-year-old Greenville County girl whose body was found in an abandoned mobile home.
Sheriff’s deputy Michael Hildebrand said the teenager was charged Wednesday with murder and first-degree criminal sexual conduct. Hildebrand said officials filed charges in part because of DNA testing results. His name hasn’t been released.
Dymia Janae Woody was reported missing Monday evening. Deputies found her body early Tuesday in a nearby mobile home that had no electricity. An autopsy showed she died of asphyxia after being sexually assaulted.
Hildebrand said the teenager lived in the neighborhood and is believed to have known the girl. Hildebrand said he is being held in a juvenile detention facility pending a hearing in Family Court.
