One killed in Hinsdale crash; Route 119 closed through evening
HINSDALE, N.H. - A two car accident shut down part of Route 119 this afternoon due to an accident that killed one person and sent a woman and three children to the hospital.
Police believe the driver of a silver Pontiac Grand Am with New Hampshire places heading west crossed the center line, crashing head on into a red Chevy Silverado pickup with New York plates.
The driver of the Pontiac died on the scene, Hinsdale Police Lt. Todd Faulkner said.
The woman driving the pickup was trapped under the dashboard until emergency workers used the Jaws of Life to free her, Faulkner said. She and the three children in the truck with her were transported to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital.
Route 119 would be shut down until roughly 8 or 9 p.m., police said, as the New Hampshire State Police Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team attempted to piece together the events leading to the accident, which left the two vehicles totalled.
