Amber Alert Issued For Missing Girl
BROOKFIELD, Vt. — The Vermont State Police issued an Amber Alert Thursday as part of the search for missing 12-year-old girl, Brooke Bennett.
Bennett was last seen in Randolph Center Wednesday walking toward the village of Randolph. Police said she was supposed to meet a friend at a convenience store before visiting a friend at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.
Police said they have no information on a possible suspect or a suspect vehicle.
Police on Thursday searched an area near Sunset Lake in the town of Brookfield after searchers found clothing similar to what Bennett was wearing when she was last seen on Wednesday.
Police said they believe Bennett had been communicating online with an unknown individual before she disappeared.
Bennett’s father James Bennett, 41, of Bethel, said he hadn’t seen his daughter in two weeks because she lives with her mother. “I’m sitting here waiting for a phone call, hoping it’s good news. This is a very difficult time,” James Bennett said.
Bennett just finished 7th grade at Randolph Union High School where she played lacrosse, basketball and softball.
Bennett was last seen wearing blue jeans, a pink sweater and white sneakers with pink lettering.
