Madison Police Chief Put On Administrative Leave
MADISON, Conn. — The chief of Madison police was placed on administrative leave on Tuesday.
Chief Paul Jakubson, a 34-year-veteran of the department, was put on leave with pay until further notice.
The decision came after a meeting of the Madison Board of Police Commissioners regarding the investigation against Officer Daniel Hedges.
Hedges is the fifth Madison officer to face charges in recent months.
Among some of the charges listed by a police document obtained by Eyewitness News includes violation of the oath of office, conduct unbecoming of an officer, improper language and leaving duty without proper approval.
Four other officers in the department were also subjects of recent investigations.
Former Officer Bernard Durgin was fired from the department for using police computers to inappropriately find information about women.
Other officers are accused of meeting with prostitutes and another is accused of stealing lobsters.
Police commissioners appointed former Hamden Police Chief Robert Nolan as acting head of the department.
